The Designer

Victoria embarked on her journey into the enchanting world of jewelry after honing her expertise at the Gemological Institute of America. Specialising in coloured gemstones and diamonds, she acquired profound knowledge about the origins, characteristics and of the earth's precious gemstones.

With a wealth of experience gained from many years on the Net-a-Porter Buying team, where she witnessed extensive consumption, Victoria found herself compelled to question the origins of goods. This pivotal realisation fuelled her passion for transparency and ethical sourcing in the jewelry industry.

Fascinated by the diverse world of gems and intrigued by the intricacies of the supply chain, Victoria set her sights on the African continent, drawn to its rich natural gem deposits. Immersing herself both above and underground in the mines, she developed a great appreciation for the hard work of local artisanal mining communities. This experience ignited a strong desire to make a lasting impact and share the untold stories of these communities with the world.

The dusty mines of Africa captured Victoria's heart, propelling her quest for discovery and the sparkle hidden within the earth. It was during this time, inspired by her experiences in Tanzania, that she crafted her first ring - a tangible memory and souvenir. Thus, Athari was born.

For Victoria, every stone carries a unique story that deserves to be told. With Athari, she endeavours to bring transparency to the world of gems, providing a behind-the-scenes insight into sourcing. Her mission extends to connecting individuals with the people involved in this fascinating industry, educating them about the wonders and mysteries that lie within each precious gem. Through Athari, Victoria invites you to join her in the exploration of the extraordinary world of gems and the empowering impact it can have on lives and communities.
